Microdermabrasion is a minimally invasive procedure that exfoliates the skin via an abrasive diamond tip and vacuum applicator.
The procedure removes dead skin and other impurities from the outer dermal layer and promotes tissue regeneration and blood flow to the area.
The procedure can improve the appearance of sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, age spots, melasma and other skin related concerns.
Microdermabrasion should be incorporated into your regular skin care routine with treatments every 4-6 weeks.
An abrasive, diamond tipped applicator is used to gently remove the thick outer layer of the skin, while the vacuum pressure assists with drawing out black heads and other impurities trapped in the pores. The entire process stimulates collagen production and maximises blood flow to the skin leaving it feeling fresh and rejuvenated.
There is little to no downtime after microdermabrasion, however, you may experience mild tenderness, swelling and redness. These symptoms will generally subside within a few hours. Avoiding sunlight and strong active ingredients may be necessary and the skin should be kept hydrated to avoid drying out.
Results will be seen immediately following the procedure with the skin feeling soft and smooth. As the redness subsides your skin will appear to have a healthy glow. Depending on your skin type, you may require a course of several treatments to address your concerns.
Depending on your skin concerns and the severity of your condition, the number of treatments can vary. For best results you may be recommended a course of 4-6 treatments in succession with a maintenance program of 1 treatment every 4 weeks.
The procedure is a very comfortable and non-invasive option with adjustable vacuum pressure to suit your comfort needs. The sensation can be compared to an exfoliating scrub which is then followed by a light facial massage.
You may experience some slight redness and sensitivity as the new skin is exposed, however, this has been known to subside within a matter of hours.
The price for Microdermabrasion is usually fixed at a per session cost, however, discounted pricing is available for full course treatments involving multiple sessions. You will need to discuss a customised treatment plan with your sculptor when you visit us in the clinic.
